Ford history of muscle cars
1952 Lincoln got 317.5 cid overhead valve V8. Ford and Mercury got overhead valve 239 cid 130 hp V8 in 1954 replacing the venerable flat head. A police version 265 cid V8 had 160 hp.
1957 312 Thunderbird V8 with Paxton supercharger made 300 hp.
1960 Fords had a 352 cid with 360 HP.

History of Mopar vMuscle cars
1951 Chrysler introduces 331 cid 180 hp “Hemi” V8 in 19511953 Dodge got 241 cid “Red Ram” V8. It set almost 200 stock car records. had one in ‘58. Chrysler launches “300″ Coupe in 1955 with 300 hp “Hemi” V8 and the muscle car era. It reached 1 hp per cubic inch a year later.
